In our series of learner case studies, we caught up with CSCS student Aaron Tarbuck, and discussed his experiences of the course.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Aaron Tarbuck. I enjoy working, I used to do interior car parts before I left to switch my career path. I enjoy going out with my friends on weekends and spending some quality time with my kids.
What training course did you take?
I took a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) course that takes 3 weeks to complete.
How did find the course and delivery and content?
I found the course very informative, easy to understand. Sam is a very good tutor despite not being at The Square Metre very long he has helped me with any issues that I’ve had, as a result the course has been very enjoyable.
What was your favourite part of the course?
Communication was my favourite as there is a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds that are also on the course, so getting to know one another and watching everybody learn and create was one of my favourite moments, I’ve made some real friends.
How do you feel you have benefited from the course?
Well the course will give me a CSCS card that I need for the job that I’ve got which is a massive bonus, like I’ve said already there are great people on the course which makes it so much easier as everybody wants to work hard which makes the day fly by.
What is your advice to anyone considering taking a course at The Square Metre?
Take it!! The course is very informative, even though I thought I knew a lot before I started the course. I didn’t in fact know as much as I thought. Which is great as I enjoy learning and experiencing new techniques and methods which I can apply to my new job. I have no hesitation coming back to The Square Metre for another course!
